This week on courts (Marbella, Cagliari, Charleston, Bogota) – 14/2021

After two weeks-long stints in Miami, tennis is back to its typical weekly fashion. The hard season is over for now, and it is time to go to the clay. Four tournaments are scheduled for week 14/2021, all at outdoor clay courts.

Tennis Week 14/2021

ATP 250 Anytech365 Andalucia Open

Place: Marbella, Spain
April 5 – April 11
Surface: Outdoor Clay
Financial Commitment: $408 800
Draw size: 28

Carreno Busta is on the entry list of Anytech365 Andalucia Open. You do not see players from TOP 20 at ATP 250 level. This year is unique, so we all will enjoy this week in Marbella.

My favorite was Rublev, but after his withdrawal, I am considering Ruud and Davidovich-Fokina as possible “dark horses”.

Who to watch: Carreno Busta
Our worth the money call: Ruud

ATP 250 Sardegna Open

Place: Cagliari, Italy
April 5 – April 11
Surface: Outdoor Clay
Financial Commitment: $408 800
Draw size: 28

A pretty good line-up is expected in Cagliari. Though, Garin and Karatsev withdrew from the tournament. Evans, Fritz, and Sonego became the odds-on favorites in this tournament

Who to watch: Evans, Fritz
Our worth the money call: Sonego

WTA 500 Volvo Car Open

Place: Charleston, USA
April 5 – April 11
Surface: Outdoor Clay
Financial Commitment: $565 530
Draw size: 64

Two players from WTA Top 10 accepted the invitation to stay a week longer in the USA. Ash Barty and Sofie Kenin will be headliners of the traditional Volvo Car open. Though, the only U.S.-based tournament on clay will offer more than just two great players.

Bertens, Muguruza, Rybakina, Putintseva, and many others from the TOP 100 will fill the Charleston draw bracket.

Who to watch: Barty, Kenin, Muguruza, Keys, Gauff
Our worth the money call: Muguruza

WTA 250 Copa Colsanitas

Place: Bogota, Colombia
April 5 – April 11
Surface: Outdoor Clay
Financial Commitment: $235 238
Draw size: 32

The best-ranked players going to Colombia will be Podoroska and Garcia. That leaves the winner options wide open. Maybe it is time for Zidansek or Stojanovic to pursue the first title of the season.

Who to watch: Podoroska, Sorribes Tormo, Tauson
Our worth the money call: Tauson
