There is no doubt that the second half of the season will be about Novak Djokovic. His season is going from good to the best.
Djokovic already won three Grand Slams [Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon] and one ATP 250 tournament [Belgrade]; the other players have just two tournament wins so far. He is going to be number one in ATP ranking all season long for sure.
That makes him dominant in all aspects this season. But he can reach more as we could have imagined at the start of this year.
There are two milestones in the coming months that can make him indisputably the greatest tennis player of all times (sorry, Roger and Rafa, but that is just true).
No man ever won all four Grand Slams and Olympic Games in one season. The only lady that did it was Steffi Graf back in 1988.
The last time we saw someone from ATP won all four Grand Slams in one year was more than fifty years ago, in 1969 by Rod Laver.
The history can be made
Upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo and the last Grand Slam of the season in New York can be a moment we all will remember. It needs just one thing, Novak Djokovic, to play and win.
[Tokyo Olympic Games starts on Friday, 07/23/2021, with tennis tournament starting on Saturday, 07/24/2021, and men finals played on Sunday, August 1st. US Open 2021 will be played in New York from 08/30 – 09/12/2021.]
Winning an Olympics is always spectacular, but also adding the fourth Grand Slam will be a historical success. We do not need to remind you how important US Open will be with Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic all having 20 Grand Slam titles.
Frankly, I would be happy if Novak Djokovic would win both major events. I like to be a witness of history to be made.
And what about you?
Update 07/30/2021 – Djokovic lost with Zverev in the Olympics semifinal. That means that he will not win Golden Slam but still has a chance to be the first men player in 50 years to win Grand Slam.
