#1. Who won the first ATP and WTA tournaments of the 2022 season?

The first winners of the ATP and WTA tournaments in 2022 were Gael Monfils and Ash Barty.

They both won the Adelaide International tournament. Gael Monfils won just this one tournament in 2022. Ash Barty added one more win at the Australian Open and then retired from tennis.

This one was easy.

Rafael Nadal won his 21st Grand Slam trophy in Melbourne, and Ash Barty won her 1st Australian Open in 2022. She then retired from tennis, but Nadal went on and added a few more tournaments wins in 2022.

Djokovic and Rybakina had the right to the Wimbledon winners’ dance in 2022.

Djokovic finally got his 21st title after two seasons when he fought with himself, rules and regulations. Rybakina made a surprise win. And even with no Russians at Wimbledon courts, Rybakina, born in Russia, represented Kazakhstan.

Carlos Alcaraz won his 1st Grand Slam ever at Flushing Meadows courts in 2022 and instantly became number one in the ATP ranking. Iga Swiatek won here 3rd Grand Slam at US Open 2022 to assure everyone she is the best tennis player at the moment.

Canada beat Australia in the finals, played in Malaga, Spain. Canada’s team of Auger-Aliassime, Shapovalov and Pospisil won the first Davis Cup title for Canada in history.


#7. Who won Billie Jean King Cup 2022?

Team Switzerland defeated Australia in the finals. Belinda Bencic, Jill Teichmann, Viktorija Golubic, and Simona Waltert celebrated the win in Glasgow, Scotland.

By the way, Australia lost the finals of both team competitions in 2022 (Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup).

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic won five ATP tournaments in 2022.

Iga Swiatek won eight tournaments in 2022: WTA 1000 Qatar, WTA 1000 BNP Paribas Open, WTA 1000 Miami Open, WTA 500 Porsche Tennis, WTA 1000 Internazionali BNL DItalia, French Open, US Open, WTA 500 San Diego Open.

Caroline Garcia and Maya Sheriff won just four WTA tournaments each. Ash Barty won just two WTA tournaments in 2022.

#10. Who was the number one in ATP and WTA rankings at the year end in 2022?

Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek hold the number one position in the ATP and WTA ranking.

Alcaraz became number one on September 12, just after his win at the US Open. Iga Swiatek holds the number-one position since April 4, and she leads the ranking with stunning 5000 points advance.
