Babolat produces rackets, apparel, shoes, and other equipment for tennis, badminton, and padel. The company is still run by the Babolat family and CEO is Eric Babolat. Babolat is the leader in connected sports technology and in 2015 it introduced the first connected tennis racket.

Yonex

Japan Company Yonex was established in 1946 as Yoneyama Company Ltd. The original producer of wooden components started to produce badminton rackets first in 1957. In 1969 Yoneyama started producing also tennis rackets. It adopted the name Yonex back in 1974, a year after it started used the famous double Y logo.

Yonex is known for unusual oval “isometric” racket frames from 1981. Currently, it produces badminton, tennis, and golf equipment.

Design

Babolat

The Blue and white combination is a characteristic color for Babolat tennis rackets. But you can fairly often see also yellow and black color combination, or red and white. Blue and white, or white and black, or blue and black combination is less common but you can still recognize the usual double stripe.

Yonex

Yonex is using mainly black-colored frames mixed with white, red, orange, or blue elements. However, the main eye-catcher is definitely the frame shape. The isometric head was introduced in 1981 and is still the symbol of Yonex. The oval-shaped frame is not just a design symbol but also increases the sweet spot of the racket head.

Babolat vs Yonex, my subjective pick is …

I played a lot with Yonex tennis rackets. I started with Ezone Xi, then used VCORE for some time and I was always satisfied. On the contrary, Babolat Pure Drive is a racket that makes me feel comfortable and my power game is at its best. It is really hard to pick one racket over another. And if you like Rafael Nadal the same as Naomi Osaka, the choice has to be based on something countable. The price. Yonex VCORE Duel G is slightly cheaper than Babolat Pure Drive.
