This week on courts – 25/2021

We are just a week from the greatest Grand Slam tournament of the year, but before it starts there are another set of ATP and WTA tournaments.

Tennis Week 25/2021

ATP 250 Mallorca Championships

Place: Mallorca, Spain
June 20 – June 26
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $783 655
Draw size: 28

Carreno Busta, Khachanov, and my secret black-horse Harris should be watched at this tournament. Unfortunately, Kyrgios withdraws from the tournament before it started.

Who to watch: Carreno Busta, Khachanov

ATP 250 Viking International

Place: Eastbourne, Great Britain
June 21 – June 26
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $609 065
Draw size: 28

Monfils and Wawrinka should start in Eastbourne but I see that younger blood will triumph here. De Minaur and Sonego are my picks at reasonable odds to win it all.

Who to watch: Monfils, Wawrinka, Karatsev, De Minaur

WTA 250 Bad Homburg Open

Place: Bad Homburg, Germany
June 20 – June 26
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $235 238
Draw size: 32

Petra Kvitova, two-times Wimbledon champion, leads the singles entry list. It is still questionable if she will come and she battles with nagging injuries. Therefore, I would look to other names in search of the winner. Kerber, Stephens, or Pegula could last in the draw till Saturday.

Who to watch: Kvitova, Kerber, Pegula

WTA 500 Viking International

Place: Eastbourne, Great Britain
June 21 – June 26
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $565 530
Draw size: 32

Six WTA Top 10 players on the entry list show how serious is this tournament. I think that Karolina Pliskova can stage a big comeback as grass in Britain is one of her favorite surfaces. Though, Sabalenka and Bencic can not be excluded from winner thoughts too.

Who to watch: Sabalenka, Svitolina, Andreescu, Pliskova, Swiatek
