This week on courts – 24/2021

We are going full-on grass. June and start of the July always belong to the quickest surface on the tour. The grass season will finish at Wimbledon and you can already check who is the biggest favorite in our poll.

Tennis Week 24/2021

ATP 500 NOVENTI Open

Place: Halle, Germany
June 14 – June 20
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $1 455 925
Draw size: 32

Four top ten players should be present in Halle. Federer is probably the one most awaited and the most questionable after his withdrawal at Roland Garros. Though his aim is definitely Wimbledon and it would be good for him to play at least one tournament on grass before.

I would not pick Roger as the biggest favorite here and I would go with Medvedev or Zverev instead.

Who to watch: Medvedev, Zverev, Rublev, Federer

ATP 500 cinch Championships

Place: London, Great Britain
June 14 – June 20
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $1 427 455
Draw size: 32

The tournament formerly known as Queens is called cinch Championships now. However, tennis should be as good as before.

Berrettini and Schwartzman, members of ATP TOP 10, are going to play in London but I see another man challenge the odds. Dan Evans is a fighter and he can surprise here.

Who to watch: Berrettini, Raonic, Sinner, Evans

WTA 500 Bett1 Open

Place: Berlin, Germany
June 14 – June 20
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $565 530
Draw size: 32

Pending any late withdrawals, we will see five players from WTA Top 10 and twelve from the Top 20. That looks almost like a small Grand Slam and the first encounter at the grass after the season break can be challenging. That means it is hard to pick the winner as essentially everyone has to be considered

Who to watch: Sabalenka, Kenin, Svitolina, Pliskova, Swiatek

WTA 250 Viking Classic

Place: Birmingham, Great Britain
June 14 – June 20
Surface: Outdoor Grass
Financial Commitment: $235 238
Draw size: 32

Players who were not accepted for the Berlin tournament will meet at Birmingham. That means we will see almost everyone from 20th to 60th place in the WTA ranking. Mertens should be the exception as she is number 15 and that makes her favorite on the paper, but frankly, anybody from the field can be the winner at the end.

Who to watch: Mertens, Konta, Gauff, Badosa
