The Best Women Tennis Players of the Last Decade

Women’s tennis is much more unpredictable than men’s tennis. Therefore, at first sight, it seems that picking the best women tennis player of the last decade would not be that easy. However, when we looked into the numbers, the answer is pretty straightforward.

The best women tennis player of the last decade [2010 – 2020] is Serena Williams. Though, her reign will probably not last forever.

Her Grand Slam titles count is currently at number 23. In the last decade, she won 12 titles, but her last Grand Slam title (Australian Open 2017) is more than four years old. The last three years belong to Naomi Osaka.

Ladies Grand Slam Winners [2010 – 2021]

Twenty-one different players were taking the trophies home from the year 2010.  However, Serena Williams stands out as the best of the best. She alone won twelve Grand Slams. The second-best lady, Naomi Osaka, has just four wins so far.

Number of Grand Slams Won in 2010 – 2021

Grand Slams Total Count: 44

12 Grand Slam Wins: Serena Williams

What about men in the last decade?

Just for comparison: There were just seven men’s grand slam winners in the same time [2010 – 2021].

Novak Djokovic won 17 Grand Slams, Rafael Nadal won 14 Grand Slams, Roger Federer won 5 Grand Slams, Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka won 3 titles. Marin Cilic and Dominic Thien have one Grand Slam Title in that period.

The best women tennis player of the last decade

I do not doubt that Serena Williams is the best tennis player we saw in the decade from 2010.

She is probably very close to retiring from her tennis career, but her name will stay in the history of tennis forever. Serena Williams twenty-three Grand Slam titles can be hardly reached.

Maybe Naomi Osaka has an excellent chance to try it, but she is still far away.

And what is your opinion?

  1. IN THE GAME OF TENNIS, “REAL TENNIS”, BEFORE ADVANCED EQUIPMENT, THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GAMES I.E. WITH FLOW AND MOVEMENT…WOULD BE DURING THE YEARS OF CHRIS EVERT AND THE OVERLAP OF “POWER” (SERENA WILLIAMS)…SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO SEE THOSE “YEARS.
