Features

Tennis Cube control panel

Tennis Cube is the tennis ball machine from Sports Tutor for beginners and intermediate players. It has three basic features you can use. You can adjust ball speed in the range of 10 to 50 mph (in ten steps of 5 mph), and ball feed interval in the range of 2 to 10 seconds (in ten steps of 1 second). The third feature is oscillation (see chapter below).

You also can choose the angle of shots from groundstroke to lob by manually elevating the shooting mechanism.

Tennis Cube does not have a remote control, and it is no surprise as it is a standard for ball machines under $1000. Instead, it has an embedded start-up time delay if you practice alone. The start-up time delay gives you time to move to the other side of the court after turning the machine on.

Tennis Cube’s advantage is its low weight. Twenty-four pounds is substantially lower than the weight of other competitors in this price category. The shape of the cube and easy-to-fold ball feeder makes the Tennis Cube easy to store and transport.

Available Drills

Tennis ball machines under $1000 do not offer custom drills or programmability features. Tennis Cube is not an exception, and the only feature similar to drill is random horizontal oscillation. The oscillation is for an additional fee (not too much) and will upgrade your primary ball machine to a serious tennis partner. Playing against the machine with random oscillation is much more fun for all players.

Battery life & recharging

Tennis Cube is small in terms of dimensions, and therefore the battery can not be massive. That is reflected by a rather short battery court time (up to 2 hours). A smart charger included with the tennis ball machine can recharge the battery overnight and has automatic prevention of over-charging.

Tennis Cube Portable Pricing & Our Verdict

The small and light black box gained our sympathy. Even with a small number of features, Tennis Cube can be a serious tennis partner for any beginner. It can also be used by intermediate players looking for improvement in flat shots. The low ball capacity and short court time are balanced by the low price of the model with the oscillator.
