A new tennis tournament and hopefully tradition was set up in September. Laver Cup was held in Prague, the Czech Republic from Friday 24th September till Sunday 26th September 2017.

The trophy for the winner and tournament gets their name after Rod Laver, the phenomenal tennis player from Australia, who won 11 Grand Slam singles titles from 1960 till 1969. In the year 1969, he won all four grand slam tournaments.

The tournament is basically the match between Europe and the Rest of the World. Both teams will be represented by 6 players, which will meet in 12 matches during the weekend. Every day we will see 3 singles and 1 doubles matches. Every match will be played on 2 winning sets, but in the case of split sets, a tie-break to 10 points will be played. Each team will be awarded points for every won match. 1 point for Friday’s matches, 2 points for Saturday’s matches, 3 points for Sunday’s matches.
