In my scenario, Russia meets Serbia, and Medvedev – Djokovic will be the icing on the top. But, Serbians did not make it. So Russia is a big odds-on favorite.
However, I would not dare to bet on that one. And what will you do?

Semifinal #1 Serbia – Croatia (Friday 12/03)
Croatia’s road to the semifinals is similar to Germany. Pavic/Mektic duo is assurance in every doubles match so that leaves us with the need for one single win.
Marin Cilic is doing what he can, but losses with Piros or Sinner showed his vulnerability. The match against Djokovic will be too much for him too.
That means Gojo needs to pull another win. Is he able to? Well, Lajovic, Kecmanovic, and Krajinovic are both better players than Sonego and Popyrin, but they do not play very well here. However, I would still go with one of them against Gojo.
That leaves me with one option. Bet on Serbia now.

Semifinal #2 Russia – Germany (Saturday 12/04)
Germany is one of two surprises in the weekend schedule (the other one is Croatia). They beat dangerous Brits with Norrie and Evans and traveled to Madrid.
Their biggest strength is the doubles. Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz won all three of their matches and are able to handle even the greatest pressure in the tie-break of a decisive tie.
That means they will need one more point in singles and that could be the steepest hill so far. Jan Lenard Struff won two matches and lost one, Dominik Koepfer has a 1:1 record, and Peter Gojowczyk is 0:1 so far.
Russians know very well that their singles must be in the best shape on Saturday. They can not let slip a single point as the doubles against Krawietz/Puetz is a tricky one.
Daniil Medvedev is rock solid so far, but Andrey Rublev showed some weakness. Is it time to try Khachanov? Still, whoever plays will be a favorite against Koepfer or Gojowczyk.
I would bet on Medvedev, but at current odds, I will not dare to bet on Russia to win this match. Rublev versus Koepfer looks just too tricky for me.
